The traditional wedding cake is a tiered, white cake with
butter cream frosting. But who says you need to be traditional, today people
have done things that seem to be some of the craziest wedding cakes ever!!
Wedding cakes can be any color, shape, flavor, and can have any kind of
decorations.
First we can start off with the shape of the cake,
traditionally the shape of a wedding cake is circle of square, but as I mentioned
earlier the more creative you get the more special your cake will be.
A popular way to decorate a square shaped cake is to
decorate it as if it were a gift box with many frills and ribbons. A circular
cake could be designed more to follow a theme such as a lighthouse or a nature
scene.
Although look is essential it is also important that the
cake taste good when you guests go to eat it. Now it is time to pick the flavor
of your cake. Vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, lemon, the list goes on. Not only
do you have to choose these flavors, but you also have to choose a filling.
With coconut, lemon, mocha, raspberry, and this list going on too this decision
becomes 10X harder. In the end whatever floats your boat, will probably float
your guest’s boat as well.
Icing is also very essential in the look of the cake. The
flavor of the icing can also influence this decision. Many people choose
vanilla or chocolate, but again the more creative you get the more special it
will be.

Hey Molly,
Just glancing at your blog made me very hungry! I found all the cakes that you posted to be very pretty and interesting. My favorite wedding cake was the white with black swirls. Your fabulous pictures gave me more insight into wedding, because I knew only of the traditional white cake. This Wednesday, I am attending my first wedding and I am very excited to see the kind of wedding cake they have. I will take a picture and show you Thursday and I will tell them that I will have to have two pieces, one for me and one for you.
