As I was searching through the many cake blogs that I have researched for my blog, I stumbled across a cake called the Pumpkin Spice Latte Cake. This cake stood out to me not only because it looks simply delectable, but because it is a very festive creative cake. The detailed ruffles of frosting that surrounds the cake really gives the cake great texture and a great look. I also was really impressed by the real coffee beans that laid around the bottom of the cake.

The baker and decorator of this cake said it was made for a fall outside wedding. This cake would be a both beautiful and delicious way to celebrate the union of a man and a women. I wonder how this great looking cake actually tastes??

One popular trend that is sweeping the nation these days is the creation of a rainbow Cake. This process is both exciting and fun. The most important thing about making a rainbow cake is to keep your colored bowls organized and to try and pour the colors into the pan in a very clean way. The more care you put into pouring these colors in, the better your cake will look in the end!! Although I have never made a rainbow cake before, I am sure some of you have!! I would love to hear about how your cakes came out!! Did they taste good? Did it take long? Did it look good???

Due to some feedback from my followers, I am removing the poetry requirement in my blog!! If you feel you are up to the challenge try and keep incorporating it, but no pressure!! Happy Blogging!!

Cake Decorating

One of the most important components of cake making is the decorating. You could have a really good tasting cake, but if it doesn’t look cool, or catch the consumers eye, how do you expect someone to but it?? There are many different techniques to cake decorating. One of the easiest and most effective ways is to use Fondant. Fondant is a thick sugar paste that is very easy to mold, it has a very similar texture to play dough.

In the video below you see the simplicity of molding fondant into a beautiful ribbon and bow. When trying to get the fondant to stick together, you need to use paste that is made up of water and Meringue Powder. One thing that baker stressed was that it is very important to let the fondant sculpture dry, in this situation it was a lovely pink bow. She rested it on a block of foam to allow it to dry longer. Once the bow had dried it was ready to be placed on the cake. This simple decorating technique took a good cake and transformed it into a great cake!!
